Success is an Act of Setting Yourself on Fire

There is a quote hanging on my office wall. It is, “Success is not a result of spontaneous combustion, it is an act of setting yourself on fire -Reggie Leach. I love to read at this quote throughout the day because it reminds me I must accept responsibility for my achievements. As I think about success, I understand there are many components to success.

One ingredient of success is knowing courage. Do you have the spirit of success? That might sound like an odd question, but you have to embrace expansion, the unknown and ambiguity to be successful.

Another piece of the puzzle of success is getting good luck. Luck is connected with the idea that the universe will provide you with what you desire and need. I believe the better you are in alignment with your spiritual walk, the more luck you have.

What is a success for you? When you measure your success, you can only define it for yourself. What others accomplish may not look successful to you at all, yet may be worthwhile to them. Each of us has a unique interpretation of success and can set an example to inspire us forward.

I smile every time I think of “setting myself on fire”; it can give me courage, tenacity and determination and the ability to stay off the phone and Facebook.
